DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming has called for PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to repent and stop spreading slander against DAP especially using racial and religious rhetoric.
Nga, who is also Perak DAP chairman said Hadi’s continuous attacks against DAP will have no effect in bringing down the party ahead of the six state elections in August and Hadi should therefore repent because slander is forbidden in Islam.
“I think Hadi needs to repent because slander is forbidden by Islam. Slander after slander will not help the situation so I hope and pray that he will repent,” he said at the Local Government Development Ministry’s Program Sentuhan Kasih press conference today (July 11).
Nga was responding to the Marang MP’s statement on Saturday (July 8) claiming that DAP has a “Chinese agenda” and is out to continue the eradication of Malay and Bumiputera supremacy established by British colonialists.
According to the former Ru Redang assemblyman, DAP used Malay spokespersons in order to achieve the party’s agenda, whereas other parties that collaborated with DAP only won the election due to their influence.
As a result, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Director Datuk G S Suresh Kumar said that the investigation was conducted in response to Hadi’s statement and added that the case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
At the same time, Suresh Kumar also confirmed that an investigation was also launched against DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng over allegations that he touched on race, royalty and religion (3R) in his speech at the “Tian Fu Gong Bai Long Wang Singapore – Malaysia Tour 2023” programme at the Batu Temple in Jelutong, Penang on July 8 after the police received several police reports on the matter.
The Bagan MP is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network services.
When Nga was asked to comment regarding the investigation into the former Penang chief minister, the Teluk Intan MP said DAP had fully handed over the matter to the police and was confident that Lim would cooperate fully with the authorities.
“I don’t think it’s a problem as Lim has already issued a statement explaining that his statement has been mistranslated. It is indeed a wrong interpretation.
“China Press has also released a report informing Guan Eng that he did not say that, he was mistranslated by certain online media,” he said.
Last Saturday (July 8), MalaysiaNow quoted China Press as reporting that Lim had allegedly said that the “green wave” (a reference to Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s election appeal with voters) would destroy temples and deny religious rights in Penang.
However, Lim had dismissed the report, claiming that his statement had been misinterpreted and that he was referring to the issue of a Hindu temple being demolished in Kedah in July 2020. – July 11, 2023
