Report: Cops probing woman’s death at Suria KLCC

THE POLICE are looking into the case of a woman in her 20s who apparently fell to her death at the Suria KLCC mall in Kuala Lumpur last night (Aug 1).

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the deceased was a 23-year-old woman who appeared to be walking alone prior to her fall.

The incident, which occurred at around 9:38pm, was caught on the mall’s CCTV system.

Noor Dellhan said the district police’s control centre received a call from a member of the public about the fall at 9:45pm, following which the police went to the scene.

“Further investigations are still ongoing,” Malaysiakini quoted him as saying.

Photos of a body being covered on the floor of the mall have gone viral on social media.

In a statement last night, Suria KLCC’s management said the individual fell from an upper level of the mall and passed away soon after.

It added it would cooperate and work closely with the police by providing access to any resources they might need to assist them in their investigations.

It also appealed to the media to refrain from publishing photos of the deceased, and attached a copy of Befrienders KL’s guidelines on ethical suicide reporting.

On April 21 last year, a 25-year-old man fell to his death from the third floor of Suria KLCC.

He was found to have a psychiatric treatment card from Klang Hospital in the bag he was carrying.
