Report: Home Ministry drops appeal plan on MUDA’s registration decision

THE Government will not be filing an appeal against a High Court ruling compelling the Home Ministry to register the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) as political party.

According to a report by Berita Harian, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said that he came to the decision following a discussion with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Just provide the Registrar of Societies (ROS) with all the relevant documents,” the Larut MP was reported as saying.

On Dec 14, High Court judge Datuk Noorin Badaruddin ordered the Home Ministry to register MUDA within 14 days.

The court also awarded costs of RM10,000 to the political outfit.

MUDA filed a suit against Hamzah for refusing to allow MUDA to register officially despite approving Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad led Parti Pejuang Tanah Air. – Dec 20, 2021.
