MEDIA Prima Audio (MPA) has confirmed that former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin will join Hot FM as a radio presenter starting next Wednesday (Feb 15).
In a statement today (Feb 9), MPA said Khairy will host the “Bekpes Hot” segment on the popular radio station.
“The offer to Khairy was made in an open letter on Instagram @hotfm976. He will be on duty as a radio announcer from 6am to 10am, Mondays to Fridays,” it said.
The matter was also confirmed by Khairy himself in a telephone interview on Bekpes Hot with radio announcers Johan, AG and Datuk AC Mizal.
MPA stated that Hot FM’s offer to Khairy was made through an open letter on Instagram last week for a radio presenter position who will be on duty every Monday to Friday, from 6am to 10am.
“Having him join Hot FM is in line with the radio station’s tagline ‘Yang Hangat Dan Terbaik’ (‘The Hottest And Best’),” it said.
Meanwhile, MPA chief executive officer Nazri Noran said Khairy’s presence in the radio station will make it “fresher and more relevant” to listeners.
“Khairy is a strong social media influencer and his presence in Hot FM will give something different to listeners, as well as a new dimension to Malaysian radio stations. We are optimistic that it will attract more listeners to Hot FM,” he remarked.
“His presence will not only give listeners something different through the pairing of politicians, comedians and radio presenters, but a new dimension for the country’s radio landscape.”
Khairy had served three terms as Rembau MP before he lost in the recent 15th general election (GE15) to PKR’s R. Ramanan in the contest for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat.
In addition to being a former health minister, he was previously the science, technology and innovation minister as well as a youth and sports minister. – Feb 9, 2023
