Report: Najib admitted to hospital, in stable condition

FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is currently in prison, has been admitted to hospital.

According to Astro Awani, an officer of the Pekan MP confirmed the matter, adding that Najib is in an undisclosed Government hospital for treatment.

“Datuk Seri is in stable condition and is currently carrying out all the necessary medical tests,” the officer reportedly added.

The report did not mention why the 69-year-old took ill. Najib has been in prison since Aug 23, just shy of two weeks.

Last month, the Federal Court rejected Najib’s final appeal in his RM42 mil SRC International corruption case and upheld his RM210 mil fine and 12-year jail sentence.

He is currently serving time in Kajang Prison.

Separately, Free Malaysia Today (FMT) quoted an aide to Najib, also unnamed, as saying Najib is believed to have been experiencing some pain.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning.
