Report: Tajuddin can defend the Pasir Salak seat under Perikatan banner if…

AFTER getting unceremoniously axed from the UMNO supreme council, Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman received a sympathy note from PAS.

“We can offer Tajuddin to contest for the Pasir Salak MP seat, under the Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan) banner, should it fall under PAS during seats allocation by the coalition.

“This offer is being made to him as I suspect UMNO may not allow Tajuddin to contest the seat using the Barisan Nasional (BN) banner in the next general election,” Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria was reported as saying by Harakah Daily.

On June 21, Tajuddin was removed from the UMNO supreme council by party president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Asked by reporters yesterday, Zahid refused to comment on why he decided to remove the veteran from the party leadership.

“It’s not fair for me to make it public. Surely, he knows what he has been doing to the party.

“He knows the contents of his public statements, public speeches and he said in closed-door meetings,” Malaysiakini reported the Bagan Datuk MP as saying.

It is to note that Tajuddin is still an UMNO member and has been appointed to become the Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia.

Touching on the matter, Razman said it was not his intention to meddle in the internal affairs of other parties but was merely trying to prepare for the next election, which may be soon.

“It’s just that if snap polls are called and Tajuddin is not given a seat by BN, then Perak PAS is willing to allow him to defend the Pasir Salak MP seat under the Perikatan banner.

“And that will only happen if Pasir Salak is given to PAS during the seats allocation process,” he remarked. – June 25, 2022
