PASIR Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been removed as an UMNO Supreme Council member.
In a letter sighted by news portal Free Malaysia Today, UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan thanked the controversial MP for services rendered.
“The president, via this letter, has terminated Datuk Seri’s appointment as an UMNO Supreme Council member,” he said, referring to party chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the letter dated June 21.
Ahmad hoped that Tajuddin, who is the ambassador-designate to Indonesia, would continue to serve as a committed UMNO member.
He also congratulated Tajuddin on the latter’s appointment as an ambassador.
It was previously reported that Tajuddin had confirmed he received an invitation to Istana Negara for his official appointment to Indonesia.
“Yes, I can confirm it. I have received the invitation from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to receive the letter of appointment as an ambassador tomorrow,” he was reported as saying by local media on Sunday (June 19).
The other ambassadors who were supposed to receive their appointments include the ambassadors to Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Korea.
However, news portal The Vibes on June 20 reported that the “confirmation” that Tajuddin has received an invitation from Istana Negara is “inaccurate”.
A source told The Vibes’ Bahasa Melayu sister portal, Getaran, that the ceremony has been postponed to an unknown date by Istana Negara.
“It is true that he (Tajuddin) will receive his letter of appointment as an ambassador with other representatives to other nations but the ceremony will not be held today (June 20),” he said.
“The ceremony has been postponed and we don’t know the date it will take place. I hope everyone can be patient and wait for the official statement in the near future.” – June 24, 2022
