CARETAKER Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor has found an unlikely supporter in former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who had chided netizens for calling Sanusi a “political clown”.
“Don’t call Sanusi [a] political clown (pelawak politik). He is [the caretaker menteri besar] of Kedah. Have respect for Kedah and its people. Without respect and decorum what is Madani?” Zaid tweeted yesterday (July 17) morning in support of the PAS lawmaker.
For the uninitiated, the incumbent Jeneri assemblyman had recently landed himself in hot water for insulting Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah during a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ceramah recently.
During the event, Sanusi had remarked that the appointment of Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari made it seem like the Sultan had made the wrong choice.
Unfortunately, Zaid’s rebuke seemed to have backfired as netizens had in turn slammed the former lawmaker for defending Sanusi.
“If he acts as MB (menteri besar) he will get that respect as an MB. If he’s dubbed a political clown, what does it say about him? Respect is gained, not demanded,” said user @m_ashrafj.

(Respect is earned, Datuk. You respect people, people will respect you. What kind of MB will laugh when the people are struggling and asking for help?)

An MB who has no shame uttering the word “lanc*u” in his ceramah? He has consistently carried himself more like samseng dengan mulut celupar tak sudah.. Respect?

The user was referring to a video of Sanusi uttering a vulgar word in Hokkien referring to the male genitalia during his speech at a PN rally in Kubang Semang, Permatang Pauh on July 3.
In his speech, Sanusi had said that no Chinese (men) were told to circumcise in Kedah despite Kedah being a PAS-led state.
Meanwhile, user @faizalqscp pointed out:
Hang jangan merepek pagi-pagi ni.. Tak payah kaitkan @SanusiMNor dengan rakyat Kedah. Kalau nak jadi MB kena rakyat undi, rasanya dia sama nasib dengan geng hilang deposit…

(Don’t talk nonsense so early in the morning. There is no need to link Sanusi to the people of Kedah. If he wants to be the MB, the people have to vote for him, but I think he will share the same fate as the gang who lost their deposits [in the general election])

Good point but did Sanusi respect non Malays? Aren’t we citizen of Malaysia as well? What did we do to receive such verbal condemnation from him all the time.

(Brother, if Sanusi is aware that he is the MB of a particular state, he should exhibit proper decorum as a state leader and become an example to the people despite the fact that his abilities to run a state is zero) – July 17, 2023
