Restaurant in Kampung Baru goes viral for unhygienic condition

PEOPLE may wonder why food outside can be more delicious from the meticulously prepared home made meals even though the recipe has been followed to the letter.

Maybe there are some key ingredients missing in the mix which the recipe book did not mention. It would also be a cause for extreme disgust if one were to know about it.

Take for example, salty sweat water from the armpits of the chef, a bit of rat poop, some crushed cockroach wings, and the lingering saliva from the previous customer because the cooking utensil has not been thoroughly washed.

Either that or the plates at home weren’t washed with drain water. Sounds “appetising.” Recently, a vigilante lady went viral for highlighting the unhygienic condition of a restaurant at Kampung Baru.

In the viral video, the kitchen portion could be seen in detail, which would have stopped any hungry diner in their tracks.

Instead of proper tiles, the ground beneath was exposed. Also, the ingredients for cooking were set on the floor.

Piles of dirty plates littered the area and a chicken coop was also attached to the kitchen. A food poisoning case is waiting to happen here.

According to netizen @MelahMiss55731 who observed the video, the chicken meat at the restaurant must be fresh since they have a coop with live chicken there.

Another netizen helpfully listed down all the offense and even tagged the relevant authorities.

@tinjuberapiace sarcastically said that Malaysians love this. “The thing that Malaysians do not like are those Malay merchants who wear black gloves and do not have a halal certificate. If the mamak and Indians wash their plates with drain water, they do not worry,” he said.

Perhaps the winning comment goes to @harizzizzudin who said the restaurant merely wanted to recreate the vibe of a Bangladeshi village since these workers have not seen their hometowns for a long time.

“It looks similar to their country,” said @kembungtemenung.

Another netizen spotted the subsidised gas tank used by the restaurant and wondered if they are allowed to purchase them.

To avoid eating in such places, @Neykann further pointed out that diners could simply spot the halal certificate or hygiene grading on the wall. If these are missing, then diners can leave.

According to the lady in the video, the restaurant has been identified as Restaurant Habiba in Kampung Baru, Sungai Buloh.

Netizen @LeeSlimShady also updated that the municipal council of Shah Alam has already closed the premises indefinitely since the restaurant in question has a temporary license only.

According to him, the municipal council of Shah Alam and the Ministry Of Health had issued a compound to the owner of the premises. —May 11, 2025
