PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin continued to focus on government matters today, meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to discuss, among others, the organising of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2020 summit in November.
At the meeting attended by the MITI secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, Muhyiddin was also briefed on international trade and foreign investment in the country.
According to a post on Muhyiddin’s official Facebook page, Lokman also explained the current status of preparations for the APEC summit, whose theme is ‘Optimising Human Potential Towards a Future of Shared Prosperity.”
Earlier, Muhyiddin made a surprise visit to Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah in Putrajaya to congratulate students who received their SPM results today, his first public engagement since he assumed the post of Prime Minister on March 1.
In his short address to parents and students, he said he was committed to bringing further development and progress to the country’s education system, as well as ensuring that it produces students who are not just excellent but ‘par excellence.’
Muhyiddin said he wanted to see students who were skilled, could embrace science and technology, as well as English and Bahasa Malaysia. – March 5, 2020, Bernama
