Sajat’s arrest: Show same tenacity on Jho Low, Indira Gandhi’s cases, netizens say

WITH transgender cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat Kamaruz Zaman detained, the public took to social media to lament on how the Malaysian authority got their priorities wrong.

“If only as much energy was expended to find Indira Gandhi’s daughter, or Jho Low for that matter. Bukit Aman confirms Nur Sajat’s arrest in Thailand,” said social activist Marina Mahathir.

User Dr Nurul Ashikin added: “So sad not many able to see that we should prioritize our focus. Sajat cause no harm to our country and we should just leave her alone.. why waste our time and resources finding her. Yet my Twitter is now being attacked for saying this. Lols.”

Yesterday, Harian Metro reported that Nur Sajat, or Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruz Zaman, had been detained by the Thai Immigration department and now released on bail.

She was detained following information from the Malaysian authorities. The latter is said to be in the midst of extraditing Nur Sajat back to Malaysia.

“On June 4, Thai immigration authorities located Nur Sajat’s hiding place in Bangkok. After some intelligence gathering, a raid was carried out on Sept 8 around 6pm.

“Nur Sajat was arrested and checks showed she was wanted by the Malaysian authorities,” the report said.

Jho Low is wanted by the Malaysian authorities for his links to the infamous 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) multi-billion-dollar finance scandal, while Indira Gandhi has yet to be reunited with her daughter despite a ruling by the Federal Court after her converted ex-husband abducted the child when she was still a baby.

User Michael Hunt said that if Nur Sajat had broken local laws, then action should be taken and the latter should be brought back to stand trial.

However, he also pointed out that the authorities should treat all cases with the same determination shown in Nur Sajat’s matter.

“If Nur Sajat has done something against our laws, by all means, bring him back. But like many have alluded to, do the same in other cases too. The happy one here might be a certain bearded ex-cop.”

On that note, user Karaoke TV had a cheeky idea on how the authorities would step up efforts to apprehend Jho Low- by “turning” the wanted fugitive into a transgender!

“Ok, he is ‘transgender’ now.  Hopefully top priority now for PDRM,” he said, in a jest. – Sept 21, 2021.
