CARETAKER Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is of the opinion that a plot to arrest him was planned by certain parties six months ago.
He said he received this information from intelligence sources from across Malaysia, who informed him of the impending action against him.
“They have been planning this for six months. The main objective is to arrest me, tarnish my image, and undermine my credibility. They want to prevent me from giving speeches as people won’t listen to someone who has been arrested.
“I already know (about it), I have my own ‘intel’, I met this person who warned me to watch out for people who want to do (something) to me.
“But I have been carrying on as usual without any issues until the dissolution of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly. Even as a caretaker government, they have become more aggressive and relentless,” Harakah Daily and English daily New Straits Times quoted him as saying.
He added that he took precautions against any attempts to harm him.
“For security reasons, I always keep a gun in the car. There are two cartridges, 14 bullets per cartridge, I am on alert 24 hours a day… (However) If people don’t do bad things (to me), I don’t do bad things (to them).”
Sanusi noted that he informed the Kedah ruler Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah about the efforts to apprehend him. The ruler advised him to report immediately if he ever received such news. However, the actual arrest took place in the early hours, leaving him with little time to inform anyone.
The PAS Kedah leader was arrested by the police at 3am on Tuesday (July 18) last week.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail claimed that he was arrested because he refused to cooperate and surrender himself to the authorities.
Saifuddin, who is also the PKR secretary-general, said the police had tried to reach the caretaker Kedah MB but he refused to answer their calls.
Sanusi was charged in two separate courts in Selayang, for making seditious remarks against the Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. – July 23, 2023
