THE four states under the administration of Perikatan Nasional, namely Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis, are expected to hold the state election (PRN) and the 16th General Election (GE16) simultaneously, according to PAS Election Director-General Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
He said this is a strategic step to strengthen political momentum as well as save on organisational costs. The matter had once been discussed with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX).
“My hope is that the PRN and GE16 are held simultaneously, so there is no need to do much work; it will take time, a lot of costs can be saved, and it will make things easier for the Election Commission (EC).
“I often chat with PMX… I asked when, he said it can be discussed,” he said during the launch of PAS election machinery at the PAS Complex on Friday (June 12).
Sanusi also said PAS machinery is always in a state of readiness should GE16 be announced at any time.
“We have one more year to reach November 2027 (maturity period). Tonight’s launch raises spirits and determines the direction of political crossroads, we want to say PAS is not weak even for a minute.
“So far, we will help PRN Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka… Melaka has not yet been dissolved, but its maturity period is December 2026.
“The EC has just determined two states; soon our machinery will go to Melaka when the assembly is dissolved,” he said as reported by Sinar Harian. — June 13, 2026
