FORMER DAP Dusun Tua state assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof counters Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Sanusi Md Noor’s claim on Selangor’s development, highlights Kedah’s proximity to Penang but lagging progress.
The embarrassing moment came when the former state assemblyman told the MB to focus on developing his state rather than claiming that Penang belongs to Kedah, for example.
In a statement to news portal Free Malaysia Today, Edry Faizal said lucky Selangor does not have an MB like Sanusi otherwise he would claim that KL belongs to Selangor.
Yesterday (July 7), the PAS leader in Kedah said Selangor is just “lucky” because it happens to be close to Kuala Lumpur.
“Selangor is lucky because Kuala Lumpur (KL) is within the state of Selangor. That’s where the development centre, the business centre is.. all the centres are in KL.
“If KL is in Kedah, I am sure that (the progress of) Selangor will be far (behind) Kedah at this time, and (the progress of) Kedah that has KL in it will jump even further,” he said in an interview with a local portal.
On another note, UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) has warned Perikatan Nasional (PN) to not ever dream about “Kelantan-ising” Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.
Such attempts would pose a danger to the three developed states, according to BN strategic communication director Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
“We (UMNO/BN) have a history of developing Selangor and Pakatan Harapan (PH) has also shown remarkable achievement in advancing the state. But now a coalition named PN, which comprises Bersatu and PAS wants to change Selangor and wants to further develop the state.
“I have only one message for them. I hail from Terengganu, which neighbours Kelantan. Both the states are administered by PAS, and I’d say don’t ever dream about ‘Kelantan-ising’ Selangor. It’s dangerous,” said Federal Land Development Authority chairperson Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek in Bangi, Selangor last night. – July 8, 2023
