CARETAKER Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has filed a letter of demand to Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over claims made by the PKR secretary-general.
The PAS warlord who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director said the letter of demand letter had been sent to Saifuddin’s lawyer via e-mail last night (July 20) with a submission in person today.
“If he doesn’t respond within the stipulated period, we will commence a lawsuit process. I’ve to sue for he made (false) accusations against me,” HarakahDaily quoted Sanusi as saying.
“He (Saifuddin) stated that the people appointed an MB to govern a state and not to be a REE (rare earth elements) thief. He therefore accused me of being a REE thief. He (also) accused me of abusing the RM1.6 bil MARRIS (Malaysian Road Records Information System) allocation.”
With regard to the MARRIS allocation “which dated back to the Merdeka (1957) era”, Sanusi claimed that Saifuddin has unjustly “piled the wrongdoings of previous UMNO MBs prior to 2014 on my head even although I didn’t know anything”.
According to Sanusi, he has been portrayed as a thug when in reality he has been softer than the bahulu (a traditional Malay cake) when carrying out his duty as a MB.
In stating his difference from Saifuddin, Sanusi claimed that the unity government minister “played a lot of politics regardless of whether he was in the opposition or the government”.
As such, Sanusi reckoned that people like Saifuddin tend to find fault with others “till when the other party starts to find fault with them, they’re then confronted with court prosecution and imprisonment”.
“He (Saifuddin) has only one character for even when is now part of the government, he still possesses the opposition mentality … little wonder the previous PH (Pakatan Harapan) government lasted only 22 months,” added the Kedah deputy PAS commissioner who succeeded Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir as MB in the aftermath of the February 2020 Sheraton Move conspiracy that brought down the PH administration. – July 21, 2023
