MALAYSIA has taken a tangible step forward to become a recognised hub for next generation cyber intelligence solutions following the inking of a landmark partnership agreement between Velum Labs Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Sapura Holdings Bhd) and TriCIS Ltd recently.

A leading home-grown cyber intelligence and cyber security company, Velum Labs provides enhanced cyber intelligence solutions derived from market-leading understanding of cyber-attack methodology.

TriCIS is a UK-based specialist in designing and engineering highly secure integrated solutions that meet the highest government and military security standards. With over four decades of experience, TriCIS is a trusted supplier to the UK’s Defence Ministry and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

The partnership agreement will see Velum Labs and TriCIS provide its capability to government and private sector clients across the region under a joint UK and Malaysia bilateral agreement.

“We are appreciative of the trust and confidence TriCIS has placed in Velum Labs, making full use of our skill set and track record in the cyber security and cyber intelligence space,” commented Sapura Group’s president & group CEO Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin.

“As we are managed and operated by local talent, this partnership is clearly reflective of the world-class capabilities and technical know-how that is inherent in our Malaysian workforce.”

Added: Shahril: “By joining forces with TriCIS, we are able to leap forward in terms of innovation and out-of-the-box solutions that can place Malaysia at the forefront of sovereign telecommunications technology while meeting our country’s need to create high-value jobs for its citizens.”

According to Mordor Intelligence, the Global Defense Cybersecurity Market was valued at US$16.22 bil in 2020 and is expected to reach US$28.53 bil by 2026, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of circa 10.51% during the forecast period (2021-2026).

The report also highlighted that Asia-Pacific (APAC) is the fastest growing region for this market.

Meanwhile, TriCIS’ CEO Antony Summerfield expects Velum Labs’ technical know-how and software expertise in cyber security and cyber intelligence to prove invaluable in creating highly advanced solutions that are able to meet the defence and security needs of countries and industries in the APAC region and across the world.

“We also look forward to leveraging on Malaysia’s talent and its close relationship with countries across the region to expand our presence within this fast-growing and dynamic market,” he added. – March 29, 2023
