MALAYSIANS should get ready their rubber duckies, float and swimming suit because the monsoon season is showing no signs of abating. In fact, it is predicted to get worse with a second wave approaching.
In a viral post on X, netizen Irfan_newboys warned of the possibility of non-stop rain as announced by Jabatan Metereologi Malaysia.
This is likely to affect the east coast of peninsular Malaysia from Dec 8 until Dec 11, 2024. The states that are affected are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor.
“The wind convergence is expected to begin this afternoon and continue until early tomorrow morning in Kelantan and Terengganu,” he said.

The viral post garnered many cynical comments from netizens who were already weary of the flood, rain and thunderstorm.
Netizen Bustamam added that the water level in Batu Pahat is already reaching worrying levels while Sri Medan is already experiencing floods.
But the situation could have been worse, with one netizen sharing the flooding in Jawa, which showed heavy vehicles being washed away by the strong current.
Some netizens expressed scepticism over the seriousness of the monsoon season while others made light of the situation by suggesting real estate propped on huge floats.

Previously, Jabatan Metereologi Malaysia announced that the monsoon is expected to persist until the end of November.
According to Jabatan Metereologi Malaysia director general Datuk Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, weather analysis suggests the monsoon surge will likely intensify between November 27 and December 1.
An extend to the duration should be good news to those who enjoy swimming in the flood water or companies selling umbrellas.
