Selangor citizens blast Azmin on reports he might be PN’s choice for MB

AFTER a short hiatus from politics, former investment, trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has returned to the political arena with renewed vigour.

Speculations are rife that he may be a strong contender for the position of menteri besar, representing the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition as they strive to wrestle control of Selangor from the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) alliance.

Nevertheless, amidst his comeback, Azmin finds himself at the centre of a vigorous anti-PN campaign on various social media platforms.

The tide of public sentiment on networks like Facebook and Twitter appears to be strongly against him.

These platforms have become battlegrounds of criticism and disdain, with Azmin bearing the brunt of the online vitriol.

This is after PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stated that his coalition has high hopes for state chairman Azmin to give the “gift” of victory to the coalition in the next state election (PRN).

“Our party is a poor party, but our work is a strategy to win.

“It is an obligation for Azmin to give Selangor to us,” he said when speaking at the PN Youth Machinery Launch Ceremony in Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, the social media hiatus against Azmin continues.

“Selangor people know what is best for Selangor. Choose a government that is proven to provide the best service for the people of Selangor. Happy voting.”

Another Facebook user, Yusuf Saharullah said:

“Azmin to give Selangor (to PN)? Selangor will sink Azmin’s political career in the state.”

On Twitter, the rampage against Azmin is more evident. People do not seem to be ready to forgive the former Anwar protege for leaving the PKR during the infamous Sheraton Move.

User @SamSamm1129853 said:

“The way Midin (Muhyiddin) made the statement confirms that Azmin is not capable of delivering in this job.”

The user is indicating that Muhyiddin himself does not seem confident that Azmin can get PN to win in Selangor.

On the other hand, most users reminded Azmin of the shocking video of two men apparently engaging in illicit sex in a hotel room. – June 18, 2023
