SELANGOR Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has somehow diverted the heat away from DAP with he himself subject to heavy fire from Muslims for defying state ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris with his seemingly defensive stance towards mega pig farming in the state.
In particular, his contention that the alleged export-oriented pig farming project in Tanjong Sepat, Kuala Langat will be dealt with seriously by tightening operating conditions for the industry following comprehensive discussions at the State Executive Council (MMKN) does not seem to convince Selangor’s Muslim community.

“God willing, the state government will continue to prioritise the well-being of the rakyat by focusing on more systematic enforcement actions and solutions for the medium and long term without any compromise on environmental cleanliness and safety,” he revealed in a media statement yesterday (Jan 11).
This is even as state EXCO for Agricultural Infrastructure Datuk Izham Hashim has been granted permission to call on Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today (Jan 12) for the purpose of clarifying the MMKN and enforcement agencies’ proactive measures to safeguard health and hygiene of the surrounding community.
Instead, Amirudin’s justification was treated with intense fury as evidenced from an Astro Awani Facebook post which has garnered 15K likes, 13.6K comments and 722 shares at the time pf writing.

“The word ‘tightening’ will not bring anything positive. The rakyat don’t want pig rearing activity in Malay areas,” one commenter enlightened the Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman.
“They don’t want large-scale pig farming of up to 500 hectares to cater for the export market. The rakyat don’t want Selangor to become the largest supplier of pigs in the region. This is a Muslim country.”

Another commenter challenged Amirudin to erect the mega hog farm “in the proximity of Cheras, Kepong, Jinjang as there’re ample land available”.
“I agree with the Selangor ruler’s reprimand … the Selangor MB can build his home near pig barn,” he jibed. “Likewise, the entire DAP and PKR EXCO can do the same. Only then can they think forthright.”

One commenter mooted the idea that the Selangor state government starts to plan for the housing complex of its MB and EXCO members to be built in Bukit Tagar which will eventually be the permanent site for the mega pig farm following re-location of the temporary Tanjong Sepat site come 2030.

Another appealed to Amirudin who is also the PKR voce-president to “simply scrap the project for only a small fraction of Selangorians consumes pork”.

In essence, detractors took a swipe at Madani backers that “they get rewarded with a porky issue by voting for PH”. – Jan 12, 2026
