Serba Dinamik exempted from movement control, claims CEO

SERBA Dinamik Holdings Bhd is exempted from the movement control order (MCO), says group CEO Datuk Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah. 

“Serba is a service provider to critical industries, that is oil and gas and this sector is exempted under the movement control period. Thus, it’s business as usual but stringent health, safety, security and environment SOPs are being put in place,” Abdul Karim told FocusM on March 17.

Earlier, the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) specialist said in a statement that it would continue operating as usual under the 14-day movement control order from March 18 to 31 as announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on March 16.

Below is a list of essential services according to the Prime Minister’s Office:

  1. Banking services
  2. Electricity services
  3. Fire services
  4. Port, dock, harbour and airport services and undertakings, including stevedoring, lighterage, cargo handling, pilotage and storing or bulking of commodities
  5. Postal services
  6. Prison services
  7. Production, refining, storage, supply and distribution of fuel and lubricants 
  8. Public health services 
  9. Radio communication services, including broadcasting and television services 
  10. Telegraph, telephone and telecommunication services 
  11. Transport services by land, water or air 
  12. Water services
  13. Any service provided by any of the following government departments: 
  • (i) Chemistry 
  • (ii) Civil Aviation 
  • (iii) Customs and Excise
  • (iv) Immigration
  • (v) Marine 
  • (vi) Meteorology 
  • (vii) Printing
  1. Services which are connected with, or related to, or which assist towards, the maintenance and functioning of the armed forces and the Royal Malaysian Police Force 
  2. Businesses and industries which are connected with the defence and security of Malaysia 
  3. Any section of any service, on the working of which the safety of the employees therein or of the establishment relating thereto depends 
  4. Industries declared by the Minister by notification in the Gazette as industries essential to the economy of Malaysia.

 Serba’s shares closed at RM1.40 or 6.67% lower today. – March 17, 2020
