SERBA Dinamik Holdings Bhd and its group managing director and CEO Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah have initiated a legal action against the owner and operator of KLSE Screener for publishing false and defamatory comments posted by a user account impersonating its head honcho.
The user account which goes by the name “Dato’ Mohd Karim” had published false comments on the klsescreener.com portal which has led to undesirable speculation on Serba Dinamik’s share price.
According to Serba Dinamik’s chairman Datuk Mohamed Ilyas, an interim injunction has been obtained by the company and the group’s CEO against KLSE Screener’s owner and operator Lim Kai Yang.
The interim injunction shall serve to restrain KLSE Screener from publishing, re-publishing or allowing any publication of false comments by any account impersonating Abdul Karim or Serba Dinamik.
“The company views such impersonation and publication of false comments as serious offences against the company and its CEO,” Mohamed Ilyas pointed out in a media statement.

“These false comments have created untoward speculation on Serba Dinamik which jeopardises and destroys the goodwill and reputation of the company as well as that of Abdul Karim.”
Defamatory
On the same note, Mohamed Ilyas also revealed that Serba Dinamik is monitoring several other platforms and will initiate similar legal actions against them in due course if they continue to publish falsehood or defamatory information against the company.
On July 27, the Kuala Lumpur High Court had granted Serba Dinamik and Abdul Karim an ex parte injunction order against Lim to restrain him from publishing, re-publishing or allowing any publication of false comments by any account impersonating Abdul Karim or Serba Dinamik on the KLSE Screener’s portal until Aug 5.
However, the court has since extended the injunction order until the inter partes hearing of the injunction application.
In the application filed together with the writ of summons, Serba Dinamik has applied for an interim injunction to restrain Lim or his agent or representative from publishing and re-publishing false comments by any account impersonating Abdul Karim or statements by Serba Dinamik on the latter’s portal.
Serba Dinamik and Abdul Karim filed the application on grounds that the statements which appeared on klsescreener.com were false, defamatory and had tarnished the reputation and the good name of the company as well as its group CEO locally and internationally.
The ad interim injunction will remain valid until the inter parties hearing of the injunction application on Oct 15.
Serba Dinamik and Abdul Karim are being represented by Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin of Messrs Zaid Ibrahim & Co.
At the close of trading on Friday (Aug 20), Serba Dinamik was down 1 sen or 2.41% to 40.5 sen with 36.4 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM1.51 bil – Aug 23, 2021
