Seven states hit as national flood victim count rises above 11,700

THE number of people affected by floods across the country continues to climb, reaching 11,704 individuals from 4,162 families in seven states as of 2pm.

According to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the states currently facing flooding are Terengganu, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Penang, Selangor and Sarawak.

She noted that 75 temporary relief centres have been opened so far to shelter those displaced, speaking during a press conference held after the launch of the Zero Tolerance for Violence Programme today.

Latest reports show Kelantan bearing the brunt of the disaster with 8,919 victims, followed by Perak with 1,277 and Perlis with 423.

Nancy also addressed the situation involving Malaysians stranded in Hatyai, Thailand due to rising waters, saying her ministry is keeping a close watch.

Support for those affected is being coordinated with the Foreign Ministry, she added. —Nov 24, 2025
