‘Shameless’ Wan Fayhsal denies “UMDAP’s slander” he’s unwelcomed as observer in Parliament

OUTGOING Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal who has put up a thick face to show up at the Dwan Rakyat yesterday (Oct 14) despite his six-month suspension is unperturbed with rumours spread to undermine his credibility.

This was when the Machang MP chastised the slander “peddled by UMDAP” as untrue that he was “chased away” by Dewan Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul for his presence in the Parliament house.

“I have not received any official notice/letter that forbids me to sit in the observation section of the Dewan Rakyat with officers of MPs and other laypeople,” he penned on his Facebook page.

“My presence even on the ‘reserve’ bench has enabled me to extend assistance to fellow Opposition MPs in their arguments and debates.”

Recall that Johari had on July 18 suspended Wan Fayhsal from attending Dewan Rakyat sessions for six months effective that day.

This followed a motion brought by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said pursuant to Wan Fayhsal’s referral of an anonymous letter in Parliament on the purported mastermind behind the takeover of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

Wan Fayhsal who is also the deputy chief of Perikatan Nasonal’s (PN) youth wing had made the reference on July 1 during the debate on the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM) for 2021 and 2022.

He had also disclosed the name of the individual mentioned in the anonymous letter as a staff of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

After leading the party’s youth wing since 2020 (succeeding Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman), Wan Fayhsal will step down due to reaching the age limit.

In the upcoming party election, the wing’s permanent chairman Akmal Zahin Zainal Zahir and Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham are poised to contest the Bersatu Youth chief position. – Oct 15, 2024
