Signature Market gives M’sia its first DTC fulfilment hub

SIGNATURE Market recently established its fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) direct-to-consumer (DTC) hub that handles 100% of its orders of grocery products in Kuala Lumpur, making it also Malaysia’s first.

With the hub occupying a total area of 22,800 sq ft with an expansion of 7,200 sq ft on the way, the homegrown DTC brand will be able to fulfil thousands of orders on a daily basis, with its last-mile delivery fleets that are designed to cater for deliveries as soon as the next day, if the orders are placed before noon (compared 10 to 12 days back in 2018).

From its humble beginnings of only having 50 to 100 orders per day that were managed manually in a terrace house, Signature Market now has its own fulfilment hub that is capable of processing over 6,000 parcels a day, with an average basket size of 16 items.

“We developed an integrated stock management and fulfilment system that enables us to ensure seamless and fast deliveries to customers. Our next-day delivery improved with an average of 37% of our customers receiving their parcels the following day,” said its founder and CEO Edwin Wang.

Being in the grocery category of products, Signature Market emphasizes on maintaining the freshness and quality of the products, with stringent quality control and a stock sales estimation put in place to effectively ensure sufficient stock of the products.

Wang also revealed that the brand will begin to focus on exporting its business model with Malaysian-made technology to other countries. – Sept 1, 2021
