SIME Darby Bhd has appointed Samsudin Osman as chairman of the group, effective immediately.
This follows his previous appointment as the group’s acting chairman in June 2020, where he was a non-independent non-executive director before that. He also serves as Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s nominee director.
Samsudin has served as a member of the board since December 2008, and was the chief secretary to the Malaysian government from 2001 to 2006, and chairman of the Employees Provident Fund board for 13 years until his retirement in 2020.
Sime Darby’s shares were last done at RM2.12 at the market’s noon close, down 2 sen, with 232,400 shares traded. – July 16, 2020
