Simple clip of two schoolgirls on motorbike generates feel-good feedback about racial harmony

THE video is just over 20 seconds long and simply shows two schoolgirls on an old underbone Honda kapchai motorbike.

But what makes the video so special is the timing of the shot – the drizzle, the two secondary school girls – one in a pinafore who rides the bike and the pillion rider who is clad in a baju kurung and tudung – and the very fact that the red car driver allows the girls to move first although they should not be stopping on the right side of the car.

This simple act of sharing a ride to school brought forth a whole lot of positive comments on Media Hutan Facebook page where the video was posted.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Little wonder then that the video has been viewed two million times with 62,000 likes and 4,300 comments at the time of writing.

Here is a small sample.

More than one highlighted that the short clip encapsulated the spirit of 1Malaysia.

Quite a few blamed politicians for creating schisms in a multicultural society.

All it took was a simple clip to remind us that we are all Anak Malaysia.

Here’s to more simple yet authentic videos like this to showcase the true Malaysia identity. – Feb 26, 2024
