Siti Kasim to Malay-Muslim NGO coalition: “Please state which Bumi privileges of yours have been stolen

SUCH is the challenge tabled to the coalition of 700 Malay-Muslim NGOs which have confirmed their participation in the PERKASA-led Himpunan Melayu Berdaulat rally slated for this Saturday (May 24) in Kuala Lumpur to protest the government’s alleged failure to defend Malay-Muslims interests in Malaysia.

Admitting that she is not a Madani government backer, Siti Kasim said she still found it difficult to fathom “which Malay-Muslim rights have been eroded or diminished”.

“There’re 150 Malay-Muslim MPs; 90% of our civil servants are made up of Malays; 90% of our uniform units are made up of Malays while another 80-85% of teachers in national schools are Malays,” the human rights activist and lawyer asserted in her latest YouTube rant.

“The Malays constitutes roughly 60% of the Malaysian population; 80% of undergraduates at public universities are Malay-Muslims; and Malays are even eligible for preferential treatment in the form of special equity holding in the private sector.”

“Has the Bumiputera property ownership discount withdrawn by the government? Kindly list down what rights of yours have diminished or stolen from you?”

Malays are now wiser

For the record, Malay-Muslim NGO coalition secretariat chairperson Syed Hassan Syed Ali said the proposed rally stemmed from the community’s concerns about their purportedly diminishing rights under the Madani government which have since led to various societal problems and worsening racial issues.

The president of Malay-rights group PERKASA expects this Saturday’s rally to attract up to 20,000 participants and over 1,000 NGOs.

On this note, Siti Kasim chided Syed Hassan for denying that the rally is a political gathering yet at the same time welcomed politicians to attend in their personal capacity.

“Don’t think we’re fools for your action revolves around politics whereby you play up Malay rights and religious sentiments,” she lambasted.

“Thankfully, your sentiments are not shared by many Malays who’re now aware of the need to be more pro-active and competitive both domestically and globally.

“Your Malay-Muslim rhetoric is already stale and outdated as evident in many Malay parents enrolling their kids in Chinese medium schools.”

The Orang Asli advocate further demanded to know which Malay-Muslim rights have gone missing simply because other ethnic groups have risen to claim that “Malaysia belongs to every citizen”.

Isn’t this true? As rightful citizens, they’ve the right to defend their equal rights.

You just want to provoke outrage among the Malays or to display your Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) side but unfortunately for you, the Malays are now able to read your intention as well as your manipulation of racial/religious rights.

In fact, those who deserve to create a fuss are the Orang Asli/Asal who are most insulted, abused and chased out of their ancestral land.

Even then, they haven’t embarked on a demonstration … Those who attend the May 24 protest are a shameless lot who deserved to be looked down upon.” – May 21, 2025
