Siti Kasim to PMX: Your ground is very shaky; you may win Gaza but be prepared to be GE16 casualty

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s rebuttal of constructive criticism about his ringgit-stretching plan to re-build war-torn Gaza has irked human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim who warns about how such over-zealousness could impact his return to power come the 16th General Election (GE16).

Aghast at PMX to the extent of “having given up on him”, the advocate of charity should start from home soil reminded PMX as to how nobody is depriving him of an opportunity to help non-citizens – even in the name of Islam – but a line has to be drawn in that he has to prioritise Malaysians for he is the leader of Malaysia as opposed to Palestine

“He’s seemingly annoyed at Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, myself and other critics (although he made no mention of their names) as having no sense of humanity or sympathy towards the sufferings of Palestinians,” revealed Siti Kasim in a YouTube video.

“Perhaps, he has to equip himself with the Rabbani leadership wisdom based on Islamic values and principles that emphasises the importance of moral values, sharing responsibilities and accountability of a leader to his people.

“This encapsulates the leader’s vision, the effect of his leadership and the core principle of his leadership.”

The Orang Asli advocate further delved on three essential leadership qualities if PMX is keen to survive in the Malaysian politics.

“He should understand the public sentiment of Malaysians the way the 32nd US president Franklin D. Roosevelt did when he promised American parents during the Second World War that their sons would not be sent to foreign war zones,” she advised.

“Roosevelt knows that if he wants to remain as the US president, he has to understand ground sentiment till he held on to his campaign promise even when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on Dec 7, 1941. But has our PMX fulfilled his election campaign promises?”

Likewise, a “well-timed unreasonableness for progress” as depicted by the late British monarch Queen Elizabeth I by “refusing to name her successor despite being faced with pressure as she wanted to ward off civil war” can be crucial.

“But the third one which is most important is political awareness in that PMX should possess the sixth sense which he cannot expect from his advisers but must personally understand,” asserted Siti Kasim.

“This is about what is transpiring on the ground or whether he’s still getting the support from his supporters

“My sincere advice to him is unless he has other plans of joining forces with other political pacts aside from DAP or if he wants to ensure the continuity of his leadership come GE16, he better takes cognisance of what I’ve just said.

“The ground is shaking at the moment, my dear PMX, and if you don’t actually concede and understand or being sensitive to what’s happening around you, I’m afraid that you may lose your leadership in the next national polls.” – Feb 2, 2025
