AFTER being stuck on an upward trajectory for the past week, the number of COVID-19 cases started to show signs of improvement, coming down to 19,257 on Saturday from yesterday’s 20,889, which was the highest number gathered within 24 hours.
However, in terms of casualties, the number is still higher at 210 compared to yesterday’s 160, adding to the total of 10,389 COVID-19 deaths in the country.
Similarly, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients also saw a slight decrease, standing at 16,323 patients discharged today, against yesterday’s 16,394.
This brings the total number of patients that have successfully recovered from COVID-19 to 1,009,343.
Unfortunately, intensive care units (ICUs) are still being swarmed with new patients every day. Currently, there are 1,097 patients in ICUs and 575 of them require ventilator support. – Aug 7, 2021
