Social media users in hot arguments over FELDA salvation scheme

MALAYSIANS are debating whether the government’s pumping RM1 bil into Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) is the right thing to do or whether it is a waste of taxpayers’ money. While Perikatan Nasional (PN) is arguing the FELDA issue was solved in 2021 and former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is accusing Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of lying on the matter, Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim tweeted his support for the PM.

“Anwar has saved FELDA, the biggest economic agency for the Malay community. There are thousands of FELDA settlers across the country. Anwar’s government will spend RM1 bil annually for 10 years to ensure FELDA’s survival. It seems that Anwar is also the one who saved the Malay people.”

However, netizens are torn between whether this is a positive thing that the Anwar government has done or a negative one.Several users are pointing out that this is a large sum of money and they pointed out that such a sum could be used to rectify other issues in this country.Twitter user @Warhammer8881 stated:

“In 2023 FELDA is still begging the government for help. From Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) BN, PH BN. From former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak with FGV, Muhyiddin and former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, the elimination of debt is just like that.

“What exactly does FELDA do? Billions of money are spent, and the result is shit. Everything is just political.”
