Soldier with bag of extended antennas tails PMX to jam wireless bomb signals

EVER noticed when Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is attending events, there is always an armed forces personnel nearby shouldering a knapsack with several elongated antennas?

Ever wondered what the purpose of it is?

X user UpdateInfo (@update11111) shed light on the matter by explaining that the device is intended to jam wireless signals.

And why the need for it, some would be asking?

The answer apparently is to jam any wireless signal to detonate a bomb placed in the path of PMX and his entourage, according to some supposedly tech-savvy commenters.

Another added disarming of drones as another usage of the jammer set.

Some netizens were quick to applaud the armed forces personnel for placing their well-being in jeopardy for PMX’s safety.

However, some netizens derided the Tambun MP who is also the Finance Minister for being so paranoid considering that he already has a few bodyguards to look after his safety. They chided that Anwar is afraid of his own shadow.

One netizen pointedly asked if other PMs also had such a security detail. But lest it be forgotten, Anwar had claimed he had been targetted by mysterious, unnamed foreign bodies for being too vocal in his support of Palestine in the on-going Israel-Hamas conflict.

However, quite a few took the opportunity to make light of the scenario. One netizen, tongue lodged firmly in cheek, said he thought it was a set of bagpipes!

Another stated that the armed forces personnel could blend in better by placing a flag on the antenna and pretend to be a tour guide.

Of course, the first thing that came to mind for many was the status of their mobile connectivity.

Whatever one may think about the need for such a device to accompany PMX on his rounds, it is good to see Malaysians haven’t lost their sense of humour. – Oct 2, 2024
