THE ShangHai Rekatone Outstanding Design Award 2023 (SRODA) was held at the Park Royal Collection Kuala Lumpur Hotel on Dec 1.
Jointly organised by digital business media outlet, ShangHai Media Sdn Bhd (ShangHai), and rekatone.com, the awards are a recognition of outstanding achievements by talent in the domestic interior design and architecture industry.
“Malaysia has many outstanding designers and architects, but there is no stage to commend them, no platform to recognize their achievements and performances. The establishment of SRODA is to recognise the talent and creative achievements in the interior design and architecture industry,” explained ShangHai Media CEO Datin Dr Cherlin Cheah.
Rekatone.com CEO Jacky Chuah emphasised in his speech that SRODA encourages and promotes professional standards and ethical norms in the practice of Malaysia’s interior design and architecture industry, aiming to raise awareness and acknowledgment of the interior design and architecture field.
He hoped that the success of the SRODA awards would inspire more people to focus on the importance of interior design and architecture, driving the industry’s vibrant development.
Adhering to the mission of nurturing professional excellence and outstanding design, SRODA 2023 introduced twelve award categories to recognise deserving designers and projects.
Esteemed industry mentors such as Datin Dr. Cherlin Cheah (ShangHai), Jacky Chuah (CEO, Rekatone.com), Dr. Daniel Gambero (President, Malaysian Proptech Association), Foong Peng Yew (Group Managing Director, HCK Capital Group), Alfred Soh (Managing Director, Felement Sdn Bhd) and Elina Jani (CEO, Greentech Malayisa Alliance Sdn Bhd) were on the judging panel, ensuring that only the very best candidates and projects were selected for the awards.
Over 50 exemplary interior designers and architects and 30 outstanding industry enterprises were nominated, with NOT Architecture the big winners on the night with four awards.
