Stay home for festivities, new cases nearing 5K mark

AS COVID-19 rages on, Malaysia recorded 4,855 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 458,077.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 3,347 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 414,707.

“Twenty-seven people have died today, bringing the death tally to 1,788,” he added.

Currently, there are 41,582 active COVID-19 cases in the country, in which 481 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) with 247 requiring ventilator support.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (1,783), followed by Kuala Lumpur (521) and Johor (467 cases).

On a related matter, Dr Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected eight new clusters in the country. – May 13, 2021
