Stop linking me to Bella’s abuse, Najib tells Bersatu

FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hits back at Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) for trying to link him to the ongoing trial of abused teenager, Bella.

“This is the standard of the Bersatu youth chief. Just because he is desperate to link me to Bella’s case, he had shared a posting I made in 2016.

“Bersatu is so desperate that that they can’t see that their own party members were linked to the Rumah Bonda founder,” he said, in a Facebook post.

Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali is currently facing trial under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a jail sentence of up to 20 years or a fine of RM50,000 or both, upon condition for allegedly abusing Bella, who was under her care.

During the trial, disturbing details started to emerge on how Siti Bainun had orchestrated abuse on Bella, among others, scalding her with hot water and spiking her food with vinegar and chilli.

The disturbing details horrified the public, so much so that Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his wife had offered to provide legal assistance for Bella.

Earlier today, Bersatu youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal shared a post Najib made in 2016, showing the Pekan MP congratulating Siti Bainun for winning the Puteri UMNO Special Award in 2016 for her volunteer works.

Hurling brickbats at Wan Fayshal, Najib said that just because he was seen presenting an award to Siti Bainun, it did not mean he had something to do with her criminal charges now.

“Their president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was also a leader of my party in the past.

“Now that you’re calling me a plunderer, going by Bersatu’s logic, are you also calling Muhyiddin a plunderer as he was also a former UMNO leader and member of my Cabinet? Use your heads.”

Touching on Bella’s case, Najib stated that he sympathised with the teenager’s plight and had been following her case trial since last year.

He added that all abuse cases must be investigated and acted upon, no matter who the perpetrator is as no one was above the law.

“As for Siti Bainun, I don’t really know her. That’s why Wan Fahysal should seek clarification from the 2016 Puteri UMNO chief, who had since defected to Bersatu.

“She admitted to knowing Siti Bainun personally,” Najib quipped, referring to Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin. – April 17, 2022
