FORMER aide to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad, urged all parties to stop discussing efforts to change the government before the 16th General Election (GE16).
His call follows the decree by Sultan Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah to respect the legal process and avoid confusion over the addendum involving former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, also stressed that the unity government’s stability must not be disrupted. Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil echoed the sentiment, urging the public to end the debate.
“Stop talking about changing the government before the election – this strategy, that tactic, claiming signals have been received. Some say the addendum will lead to a government change. Stop it. The King has spoken.
“The stage to change the government is during the general election. The government should do its job, and the opposition should play its role. Let the people decide during the election,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Feb 28).
Meanwhile, speculations about the opposition bloc’s efforts to topple the government before GE16 continue to circulate. — March 1, 2025
