Stop telling us to reconcile with Bersatu, Najib tells PAS

FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged UMNO’s allies to stop pressuring the party to reconcile with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), following the latter’s admission that they wanted to end the nationalist party’s dominance in the Malaysian political landscape.

“I urge our friends under the Muafakat Nasional charter to stop asking us to accept Bersatu. We’re friends but just stop!

“We cannot fathom why UMNO should work with people who are aimed at destroying us,” he said, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, Bersatu information chief Mohd Solihan Badri said that their president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would not be defending his Gambir state seat as the latter wanted to focus on strengthening the party’s machinery to defeat Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Without being tied down as a candidate, the former prime minister can fully focus on his job in the management and operations of Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan)’s machinery throughout Johor.

“Muhyiddin was of the view that the BN Government’s domination must end and UMNO, which is the core of the coalition, must not be able to rise again forever after the upcoming 15th general election,” Malaysiakini reported Solihan as saying yesterday.

Bersatu wants UMNO “dead”

On that note, Najib said that UMNO grassroots have always known of Bersatu’s vile intentions of trying to bury UMNO for good.

“Even since the ‘scheme of things’ audio went viral where the eighth premier revealed that he had planned to bribe UMNO leaders with Government and GLC positions, we realised what is happening.

“And with Solihan’s own admission yesterday, I hope UMNO leaders who still have some soft spot for Bersatu will wake up,” the Pekan MP remarked. – Jan 27, 2022.
