“Government has no plans to ban underage marriages to “please” certain political parties.”

Earlier today, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun told the Dewan Rakyat that the Government has no plans to outlaw child marriages for now due to certain issues.

“There are different aspects that needs to be addressed in curbing child marriages, apart from amending legal provisions.

Rina, a failure

“Hence, the Government has plans to ban underage marriages for now. However, we remain committed to curbing underage marriages by implementing the National Strategic Plan in Handling the Causes of Child Marriages,” she said, in a written reply at the Dewan Rakyat to Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Taking a swipe at Rina and the Government, several netizens said that the minister has done nothing significant so far and the current leadership should be voted out in the next general election.
