FOLLOWING Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s pledge to help Kelantan overcome the decades-old water and flood crises, former Kota Bharu MP Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has urged PAS to support Anwar’s unity government.
“I have been waiting for seven months for these remarks. That is why I’m happy with Anwar’s statement, and I support Anwar’s announcement 100%, so should PAS,” he said of the state’s ruling party.
“When Anwar invites you to work together as in federal government helping state government, the state government should fully cooperate as well.
“PAS need to be smart in politicking too by supporting Anwar in Parliament. There is no need to cause unnecessary troubles such as not helping out the Malays. Support Anwar in the Parliament, and Anwar will help PAS in Kelantan.
“It should be on an ‘I help you, you help me’ basis,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook page on Saturday (May 13).
In his speech at the Madani open house event in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, last Friday night (May 12), Anwar said full cooperation is required from the state government to overcome this water issue.
“Kelantan is facing a serious problem with its clean water supply, so I propose that the federal government and the state government work together.
“Let’s meet and cooperate on a water supply project that is comprehensive and meets the needs of the whole of Kelantan,” he said.
On this matter, Zaid further pointed out that if the goal is a long-lasting and stable government, there is a need to support the current prime minister in order for him to continue his initiatives for the rakyat.
“If he (Anwar) fails to do his job well, then, by all means, change him in the next election. But for now, Anwar is the Prime Minister and PAS has to support him. Otherwise, it would be a waste for him to spend money on Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah,” he said. – May 15, 2023
