EITHER do something well, or don’t do it at all. Perhaps this adage best describes the situation at the Suria KLCC shopping centre.
Recently, a netizen went viral for pointing out the Hari Raya decoration there which to his opinion, was downright ugly.
Observing the video, the blue themed Hari Raya deco was rather bland looking, with very little foot fall within the ground.
“Is this the only thing you can do? Is this the only thing you can do,” repeated the man with the TikTok handle @nazreen.amysar.

“Whose curtains did they steal,” he said among other complaints, zooming into the curtain of lights hanging above the deco.
In the comment section, netizen hannbae added that the decoration may have been made by the owner of Mydin, to which another netizen responded that it could be a promotion for Mydin.
NF shared that people have yet to see the decoration in Sabah. To save cost, they apparently combined the Hari Raya decoration with the Harvest Festival which starts in the fifth month.
Then there were several others who pointed out that most of the budget was allocated to Christmas or Deepavali. Then one netizen cheekily said it is a minimalist decoration, hence the austerity.
A couple of suggestions followed:
However, the mall decoration too has its defenders as seen by Wakjenal who said it was already beautiful, that the man just wanted to go viral.
Juruteknik Kömputer also inquired about the type of decoration that was considered alright for Hari Raya in the mall.
“This is because our celebration has no links to myths and believes. Even if we have, it is the tradition to visit the graves in the morning of Raya. Obviously we won’t be putting graves there right? Usually it is just Ketupat and Lemang,” he said. —Mar 2, 2025
