THE family of missing Malaysian pastor Raymond Koh anticipates closure as their civil suit against the government nears a High Court decision, expected by September 2025.
Filed in 2020 after Suhakam’s 2019 finding that Koh’s 2017 abduction was an enforced disappearance by the police’s Special Branch, the suit seeks damages and accountability for unlawful abduction and misfeasance.
Despite Suhakam’s conclusions, no criminal charges have been filed. Susanna Liew, Koh’s wife, expressed hope but acknowledged potential appeals if they win.
The case, marking eight years since Koh’s disappearance, continues with hearings on April 28 and 29, 2025.
“We still do not know what happened to Raymond. It has been eight years and it feels like a lifetime,” Liew said in a report published by FMT.
She expressed hope for the coming judgment, but acknowledged that the road ahead could still be long.
“If we win, the police (and) the government might appeal. We just have to give it to the Lord,” she said. —Apr 27, 2025
