Syed Saddiq: “I’m joining PN roadshow for the people”

MUAR MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he is participating in a roadshow organised by Perikatan Nasional (PN) to explain current affairs to the people and not because he is supporting the opposition coalition.

Speaking at a press conference in Parliament today (March 11), the former Muda president said he welcomes a neutral non-partisan platform to address national issues.

“Regardless of whether from political parties or outside of politics so that in the end (the tour) is not about Muda, not about PN, not about Syed Saddiq or (Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin) but it is about the plight of the people that must be prioritised,” he stated.

On Saturday (March 9), Muhyiddin, who is the PN chairman said the coalition’s roadshow series scheduled to begin after Ramadan is aimed at explaining to the people PN’s position and role, and that Syed Saddiq will be partaking in the tour.

However, Muda denied that the party would be involved in the roadshow, with party secretary-general Amir Abdul Hadi stressing that Syed Saddiq, as a Muda member, must abide by the party’s decision.

Commenting on this, Syed Saddiq confirmed that he had received a call from the party leadership regarding the issue and that he will discuss this with them before joining the tour.

“I’m still a party man, so I will discuss this matter with the leadership first before deciding on whether to join the roadshow,” he remarked.

In November last year, Syed Saddiq, who is a Muda co-founder, said he had stepped down as party president following his conviction for corruption charges. He is appealing against his conviction. – March 11, 2024
