Taiwan Excellence winning products showcased in Smart Medical Application webinar

TAIWAN Excellence held a Smart Medical Applications webinar on June 16, 2022 where representatives from five major medical equipment manufacturers shared their company’s latest medical products.

The National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch vice superintendent Matthew Hui-Ming Ma highlighted Yunlin as an example of how technology has significantly improved the access to quality healthcare for the district.

Yunlin is considered a low-resource district in Taiwan with an ageing population and low household income and has a shortage of doctors.

Public-private cooperation over the past few years has led to the creation of a telemedical ecosystem in Yunlin that addresses many of these shortcomings.

The first company Medimagine Integrated Solution Inc. (MiiS) unveiled its Smart Wound Carer system. The featured MDP 100 is a handheld imaging device with three specialized cameras to provide measurements of multiple parameters such as dimensions and depth of wound, tissue recognition and even wound temperature distribution.

The software will then analyze the wound and upload it to the cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) server for further processing. The system is designed to monitor wound healing and record its progress to enable better care.

iXensor Co. Ltd. is making smart devices smarter through the company’s innovative PixoTest, an app-based system that is the first Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved smartphone camera-based blood test. Using the company’s proprietary colour sensing technology, the system is able to turn a smartphone into a lab-grade testing device.

Wellell Inc. showcased its SleepWell digital sleep apnea monitoring and therapy system for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

OSA is an under-reported and under-treated health condition that affects an estimated one billion people worldwide and can lead to health issues such as chronic lethargy and even heart problems if left unaddressed.

Medical imaging is a critical part of modern medical care and is especially useful in diagnosing and monitoring vital signs.

IEI Integration Crop’s Medical Image Management System features all-in-one panel computers and box computers custom made for medical imaging applications and includes numerous features designed for the medical setting.

The medical grade power system with real-time battery monitoring software improves system stability and can be adjusted to suit different applications.

The last company featured was United Orthopedic Corporation with its USTAR II Hip & Knee System. The USTAR II is a system of artificial joints designed for complex joint surgery and can significantly avoid the need for amputation caused by severe bone defects from multiple replacement surgeries or bone tumours.

With more than 200 pieces to choose from, surgeons will be able to customize the best fit for their patients. As the incidence of bone tumour is high in children, the USTAR II includes pediatric sizes. – June 20, 2022
