Taiwan Expo’s 8th outing to Malaysia

TAIWAN Expo 2025 in Malaysia is part of the flagship global exhibition platform designed to showcase the best of Taiwan innovation and manufacturing capabilities and officially kicks off today (23rd of June) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Organized by the International Trade Administration and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the expo brings together over 200 leading Taiwanese companies and runs until 25 June.

This year’s event is the largest yet and the five main themes of the exhibition echoes the industrial trends in Malaysia, including smart manufacturing, health and wellness, sustainability, as well as culture and tourism.

AI applications fuel innovation boom

This year’s Taiwan Expo highlights AI innovation as its main theme. VIP guests posed for a group photo alongside the AI-powered NUWA Collibot Robot, dressed in a traditional batik scarf.

This year’s event marks the 8th outing for Taiwan Expo in Malaysia and AI innovation is the biggest highlight of the event.

A total of 32 leading AI firms from Taiwan are showcasing their range of products and solutions including smart manufacturing, medical technologies, cybersecurity, finance, and education services.

Key exhibits include Phison’s latest AI driven data storage technology; mechanical skin that mimics the human touch response by Touché Solutions; V5med and DeepXray’s AI-assisted lung cancer and osteoporosis screening systems; as well as AI-driven cybersecurity and education solutions from ThinkCloud and NUWA Robotics — among many other innovative highlights.

A special guided tour service by the Collibot Robot will also be available and visitors can experience real-life applications of Taiwan’s AI technology.

In addition to the various AI showcases, many Taiwanese companies which are renowned globally for their environmental protection solutions will also be displaying their products, including energy-saving insulation films, smart water tower management systems, energy-saving air conditioning systems and photon energy harvesters.

The smart living and lifestyle products sections showcase everything from wearable devices to innovative household products to smart lighting solutions.

The range of thoughtful products highlight the innovative powers behind Taiwan’s push to integrate design and technology into improving the quality of life. New for this year is the Taiwan Select Food Culture Pavilion that

features many high-quality halal certified food products, Clean Label products and international flavour competition winners which are paired with traditional tea ceremonies to showcase Taiwanese food culture and lifestyle aesthetics.

Bilateral trade growth shows complementary industrial advantages

The event was launched using a symbolic fusion of Malaysia’s iconic Wau Bulan and Taiwan’s butterfly emblem.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Simon Wang, President & CEO of TAITRA, and kicked off with a high energy 24-festive drum performance that symbolises the cultural integration and enthusiasm for the growing cooperation between Malaysia and Taiwan.

Many VIPs graced the opening ceremony, including Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia Ms. Phoebe Yeh; Selangor State Government EXCO of Investment, Trade, and Mobility YB Tuan Ng Sze Han; MATRADE China & Northeast Asia Section Director Mr. Mazlan Harun; Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing (FMM) President Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai; and more.

This year’s Taiwan Expo has received the support from 26 Malaysian industry associations and groups which indicates the great importance local industry players attach to the event.

Taiwan plays a pivotal role in the global supply chain for semiconductors, information and communication technologies, as well as smart manufacturing.

Taiwan’s technical expertise is recognized by the international community and would synergize perfectly with Malaysia’s role as an important manufacturing and export hub in Asia.

According to statistics, bilateral trade between Malaysia and Taiwan reached USD 39.1 bil in 2024 which cemented Taiwan’s position as Malaysia’s fourth largest trading partner. Bilateral trade grew by 36.8% in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai remarked that the exhibition has many forward-looking contents that the local industry should find interesting and the focus of Taiwan Expo is highly in-sync with the development direction of Malaysia’s manufacturing industry and serves as an important platform for promoting technological exchanges and industrial advancements.
