Tajuddin gets veterans’ backing for return to UMNO

UMNO veterans have urged the party leadership, particularly party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to review the appeal submitted by former Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman concerning his membership suspension.

UMNO veterans secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub emphasised Tajuddin’s loyalty to UMNO, highlighting that he had appealed four times and remained steadfast despite the suspension.

“UMNO veterans support Tajuddin’s appeal to be considered by the MKT so that his suspension as an UMNO member for two terms (six years) can be shortened to a shorter period.

“Veteran views Tajuddin’s appeal is sincere. He did not give up and has appealed four times. He remained in UMNO after being suspended. His family is UMNO. He never went on the stage of another party despite being suspended.

“On that basis the veteran supports and hopes that MKT will consider it as best and as soon as possible. Give him a second chance,” said Mustapha in a statement today.

The veterans support Tajuddin’s plea for a shorter suspension period, viewing it as sincere and hoping for the UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) to reconsider.

Tajuddin expressed his commitment to UMNO despite the lack of response to his appeals, stating his desire to continue contributing to the party’s cause.

Mustapha is of the view that Tajuddin’s reinstatement would not harm UMNO and asserted his potential as a party “warlord” capable of defending UMNO’s interests. – June 8, 2024
