YESTERDAY (June 25), UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stressed on the need to hold a general election soon so as to return mandate to the people to choose a new Government.
“The people have high hopes on UMNO to rejuvenate the country and restore Malaysia to its past glory.
“And we need political stability for it by returning the mandate back to the people, which was dented on May 9, 2018,” he was reported as saying.
However, netizens were not buying into his argument and took to social media to criticise Zahid for being power hungry.
User Nasir80 asked:
(Talking to a wall, Zahid?)
(The Indonesian man likes to hear himself talking)
Netizen Tggu Raya Haji retorted:
(Go away)
Last week, Zahid sacked Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman from the UMNO supreme council.
While Zahid had refused to comment on why the action was taken, it was speculated that Tajuddin was axed as a “warning shot” to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who had been resisting calls by the “court cluster” to dissolve the Parliament.
Subsequently, former UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s loyalist, Isham Jalil was appointed to replace Tajuddin.
It is to note that Isham himself was sacked as Selangor Barisan Nasional information chief last month for criticising UMNO’s estranged ally; PAS.
Two days ago, Ismail Sabri, who is also a UMNO vice president, decided to skip his party leadership meeting. Some have speculated that the Bera MP decided not to attend it as he knew he would be pressured to call for snap polls.
Get rid of the “court cluster”
On that note, user Pak Kodi criticised politicians for keep saying that they were doing things for the “people’s sake” when in reality, it was for their own vested interest.
Netizen Zulkefli remarked: “Pulih kan umno dulu. Buang kluster mahkamah dn yg sombong2 tu.”
