Tan Kay Hock has no intention to sell his stakes in George Kent

GEORGE Kent (Malaysia) Bhd says its chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock does not intend to sell his entire stake in the company.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Dec 30, George Kent said it was responding to Focus Malaysia’s article ‘Tan Kay Hock to exit George Kent?’ published in issue 01, which speculated that Tan was seeking to sell his entire stake, held directly (4.77%) and indirectly (37.42%) via Star Wealth Investment, Johan Equities Sdn Bhd and other nominee accounts.

“George Kent is unaware of any intention by Tan Sri Tan to divest himself of his shareholding and interest in George Kent. George Kent has since obtained confirmation from Tan Sri Tan that the assertion is false and without any factual basis. Tan Sri Tan further confirms that he has no intention to sever his ties with George Kent and intends to continue serving as a board member and chairman of the board,” the company says. – Dec 30, 2019
