Temple and ashram to send aid to Myanmar earthquake victims

THE earthquake in Myanmar has left thousands of families in need of assistance.

Temples and ashrams serve as community centres, providing a space for people to gather and support each other.

It is commendable that the Devi Shri Karumaariamman Temple, Jalan Kuala Garing, Rawang together with Kri Sakthi Nyaenthira Ashram have collected clothes, food parcels and medical items to help the victims of the Myanmar earthquake.

Items collected are to be handed over to be sent to Myanmar via the embassy in Kuala Lumpur next week. The minister counsellor Ms Hla Thida Lynn and the first secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Union of Myanmar were at the ashram today to inspect the relief goods.

Kri Sakthi Nyaenthira Ashram founder Shiva Shri KKM Krishna Moorthy Gurukkal and temple secretary M. Vivekananthan are doing their part to help the victims of the powerful earthquake in Myanmar which has caused catastrophic devastation with the help of hundreds of kind-hearted people.

This kind of community-driven initiative can provide much-needed support to those affected.

The earthquake has caused widespread destruction and leaving thousands of families in urgent need of assistance, with Mandalay looking like a place of death and like the town was bombarded by a nuclear bomb.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia will provide RM10 mil (US$2.3 mil) in humanitarian aid to help those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar. – April 10, 2025
