A RECENT drama unfolded when PPR residents in Hiliran Kuala Terengganu were complaining about their lifts that were no longer working.
Some are stating that the residents have not been paying their RM174 monthly maintenance fees. The cumulative amount among the three blocks is RM 1.2 mil.
The whole ordeal has stirred netizens to question how this even happened.
On Twitter, users are debating the issue:
The problem is.. bila kerajaan tegas je dgn penghuni mcm ni, kuar drama kerajaan kejam.. buat video viral.. penguakuasa xberhati perut… Org politik masuk campur jadi hero… Ini situasi Biasa di mana2 dlm Malaysia..

“The problem is when the government is strict with the residents like this, they complain of the cruelty of the government. Make a viral video. They’ll say enforcers do not care (about their problems). Politicians then intervene and become heroes.. This is a common situation in Malaysia.”
Furthermore, netizens are complaining that this relatively new complex is in horrible condition despite being well-built.
According to news reports, the abrupt suspension of elevator services in the 17-storey residential blocks of Hiliran Kuala Terengganu People’s Housing Project (PPR) has caused frustration among approximately 5,000 residents.
Acting on the authorities’ instructions, the management company halted elevator operations due to expired certificates of fitness (CF) for the PPR’s three blocks.
Previously, only one elevator per set of three blocks was functional, while the remaining six elevators were out of order. However, since yesterday (July 1) evening, all elevators have been rendered non-operational, leaving residents with no choice but to climb the stairs to reach the 17th floor.
Kalau bab ni, takyah lah korang gaduh marah2 kerajaan persekutuan @kpkt_gov, menteri @NgaKorMing atau kerajaan negeri Terengganu pun
Kalau maintenance fees pun dah sampai sejuta lebih tertunggak, mmg patut la lift dihentikan operasi. Dh berapa lama x servis lift tu, apa2 jadi,… pic.twitter.com/qu8sEC1tHq

“If this is the case, there is no need for you to be angry with the federal government @kpkt_gov, minister @NgaKorMing or even the state government of Terengganu.
“If the maintenance fees are up to a million more in arrears, the lift should be stopped operating. How long has it been since the lift was serviced, what happened if there was an accident? I’m concerned.”

Tolonglah beratkan lg hukuman penghuni yg tak bayar mf ni. Makin menjadi jadi dan ramai ye beruk tak bayar mf. Hukuman yg jmb/management boleh ambil ringan sgt, itu yg naik kepala.

“Please increase the punishment for residents who do not pay. There are now more and more people not paying. The punishment that management can take is very light, that’s why they behave like this.” – July 2, 2023
