DATUK Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin was a great corporate leader and has been very supportive of the “Reinventing Boustead” initiative.
“As a result, Boustead Holding Bhd recorded significant financial performance for the group. Under his leadership, Khaled helped the company accomplish many achievements,” said its group managing director Datuk Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, in a statement.
As the nation’s political crisis escalates, Khaled, who is also a Umno vice president, announced that he was relinquishing his chairmanship of Boustead effective today.
“I would like to announce my resignation effective Aug 5 and would like to thank the board of directors and its management for its cooperation during my tenure here,” he was reported saying.
Khaled’s departure came about after Umno decided to withdraw support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government two days ago.
This is the second high-profile departure from Umno following Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah’s resignation from the Cabinet two days ago.
Elaborating on Khaled, Shazalli lauded the latter for successfully leading the company towards financial recovery, recording profit after tax worth RM87.4 mil after six consecutive quarters of losses.
“He also pushed for the company to meet the COVID-19 vaccine supply contraction obligation to the Government, 4.5 months ahead of schedule.
“In addition, Khaled helped Boustead Group to win the petroleum supply contact with the Defence Ministry,” he added.
Shazalli then stated that the company would commence its process to select a new chairman to ensure the Boustead’s reinvention strategy continues without any hurdles.
“We are looking at expanding the conventional brick-and-mortar businesses towards developing and utilising data analytics and business intelligence platforms to prepare for the future,” he remarked. – Aug 5, 2021.
