Editor’s Note: The Chicken Rice Shop has reached out to FocusM over the recent grouses expressed by a member of a renowned Facebook foodie forum over the staff of the popular halal chicken rice outlet in AEON Wangsa Maju refusing to entertain her.
The following is the response from The Chicken Rice Shop.
Letter to editor
Greetings from The Chicken Rice Shop,
In relation to your recent article and Facebook post entitled “Non-Muslims cry foul as The Chicken Rice Shop staff refuses to attend to them during Ramadan”, we would like to first apologise to our customer for her experience at our restaurant.
We also wish to clarify that The Chicken Rice Shop is open for business as usual throughout the month of Ramadan and welcomes all patrons who want to have a meal at our restaurants.
After looking into this matter, we would like to explain that the employee whom our customer had engaged is a person with disability and was on his rest-period at that point in time.
He may have experienced some difficulties communicating with the customer as well as with his other colleagues who were in the midst of getting ready for the evening crowd.
We are truly sorry for this break in communication and would like to reassure all our customers that this is an isolated incident.
We will strive to improve our customer service levels and we wish to thank everyone for their kind understanding and support. – March 6, 2025
